Learn theFoley youcan't fake.
You record your own sounds, but at home the room wins and you fall back on libraries. I spent more than four years recording AAA Foley inside an 11 m² booth at Ubisoft. Here's how to get real, performed Foley out of a room that isn't a stage, one step at a time.
Workshop on the Foley stage · Meerbusch
Five steps.Start where you are.
Each step builds on the one before. Most people start free, build their station, and go as far as they want from there.
Build your firstsurface this weekend.
The free Surface Manuals: plans and material lists for the modular surfaces I use every day. Under $50 for a wood and a stone surface.
- The Surface Manuals: stone, wood basic and wood pro
- A free six-day DIY Foley course by email
- Every Saturday: field-tested knowledge on surfaces, cloth movement and recordings that make you stand out

The FoleyGuild.
Alone in your room, you can't hear what you're missing, and nobody around you will tell you. The Guild is where you keep growing after your station is built: direct access to me, honest feedback and a crew of people doing the same work.
Doors are open. Join any time.
- DIRECTDirect access to me. Ask anything about performance, recording, editing or the business of Foley.
- MONTHLYA live session with the crew. Real problems, solved live.
- FEEDBACKHonest feedback on your work. Showreels and passion projects, reviewed with AAA standards.
- LIBRARYCourses and recorded deep-dives, growing session by session.
- 1:11:1 coaching, included in the Elite tier and bookable for Standard members inside the Guild.
You're doing the work — for free.
Building a reel, taking every gig, and nobody calls back. The Guild gets your workflows checked against a professional standard, so you stop guessing whether you're actually good — and stand out from the pile of showreels.
You're working — and stuck.
Same projects, same level, no one around to push your standard higher. Honest feedback from working pros is how you break the plateau — not another plugin.
You have the track record — now you want the craft.
You've mixed, edited, designed for years and Foley is the missing lane. Skip the beginner detours: European / AAA standards, transferred peer to peer.
Hands OnSound.
A course for doers. Universities tell you at the end that the job comes through networking and credits you fight for yourself. Hands On Sound starts there: you get a real short film and finish it, from first edit to final mix, in 12 weeks.
- The complete post-production. Dialogue editing, sound design, Foley and the mix.
- A real film, delivered to you. No searching for a project. Your kick-off is the film.
- My workflows from 15+ years in post, and a finished production with a professional result at the end.

Learningwith Bastian.
Bastian's course is the real deal. Even after 30 years in the video game industry and shipping 90 titles, his teaching helped me level up techniques I didn't know I was missing.
He gives us his insights into Foley and how to best utilize our brand-new Foley stage.
Bastian's teaching kickstarted that path and he gives me the tools to confidently approach any scene I'm given and know how to get good sound.
Bastian's studio setup gives me a lot of new ideas about recording Foley and how to get better results.

On-site masterclass
One or two days of live Foley craft in your space: performance, recording chain and surfaces, with maximum hands-on time. Taught at Cologne Game Lab, SAE Institute and more.
Studio calibration
You already have a Foley stage and want your Foley artists working at a AAA level. I train your team on your own stage, so it delivers what it was built for.
Beforeyou ask.
Where should I start? +
With the free Surface Manuals and the six-day email course. If you want the complete build, the Foley Station Setup course is the next step. Already have a working station? Go straight to the Guild.
Is this for beginners? +
The manuals and the station course are for anyone moving into Foley, with lots of experience or next to none. The Guild works best once you've shipped a few projects: student films, game jams and free gigs all count.
Do I need a treated studio? +
Not a perfectly measured one — but yes, you need a reasonably dry room. Basic acoustic treatment is part of the method; an empty tiled basement won't work, no matter the technique. Between those extremes is where I live: I recorded AAA Foley in an 11 m² booth for more than four years.
Are sessions recorded? +
Yes. Group sessions (Guild and cohort) are recorded, become part of the curriculum, and excerpts may be used on my channels to show the work we do. That consent is part of the terms — NDA material is always excluded and stays 1:1.
My projects are under NDA. +
Confidential work is handled one-to-one, over a secure channel, never stored, never shown in the group. If your project is under NDA, share it with me in a direct message only — never in group sessions.
Do you use AI to generate sound? +
No. Everything here is live, performed Foley. That's the whole point.
